Why Training Syllabus Of Martial Art Schools Often Different Each Other

People often debating about this complicated topic: “Why many same style martial art dojos often teaching basic movesets which are different each other?”.

For examples:

- Some Boxing schools teach Middle Guard Stance and 6 basic punches, other schools teach both 2 stances and 5 basic punches, another schools teach High Guard Stance and 4 basic punches.

- Traditional Taekwondo schools teach 2 basic punches and 4 basic kicks, more modern schools only teach 4 basic kicks.

- Traditional Kungfu schools teach Vertical Punch technique, more modern schools teach Straight Punch instead.

Why this phenomena happened everywhere? The reason is depend on their masters / dojo owners personal interest. In fighting tournaments, in championships, that thing is also not prohibited so there is fine.

In fighting sport tournaments, the event organizers only regulate the scoring system in their tournaments based on “legal strikes landed to legal targets successfully”.

Fighters are free to use any fighting stances and any strikes they want as long they doesn't violating the tournament rules. For examples:

- In Boxing tournaments, fighters are free to use any punches they want as long it landed above the hip areas.

- In traditional Taekwondo tournaments, fighters are free to use both punches and kicks as long it landed above the hip area. In modern Taekwondo tournaments, they only permit kicks.

- In Kungfu tournaments, fighters are free to use both punches and kicks to striking all areas except groin.

Why Bouncing Footwork Is Unsafe For Real Fight

Bouncing Footwork (also called as Skipping Footwork) is a kind of footwork where the fighter standing on their front toe and hopping everywhere, imitating Rope Skipping jumping move.

In Boxing tournament, you can use this footwork safely without worry, because sweep and low kicks are not permitted there.

Sadly, this footwork is unsafe for asian martial art tournaments (like Karate, Panantukan, Kungfu, Kuntao and Silat) or real street fight situation where fighters are free to do sweep or low kick techniques. Of course, you’ll tripped so easily while hopping on air position.

Why 1 Single Punch Better Than 100 Chain Punches

"100 Chain Punches" is popular fighting move often used in anime cartoons and movies. The fighter throw rapid multiple punches combo like machine gun.

But can it work in real fight? Based on my experience: No.

Combo punches are weak because your brain automatically weaken your own punch to give your lung and arm muscles a chance to doing high intesity - rapid motion. We are never able to do powerful punch and rapid punches at same time.

In real fight, throwing weak punches combo is suicide because your opponent can countering you with powerful single punch that will knock you immediately.

That the reason why 1 single punch better than 100 chain punches.

Modern Shooting

Shooting is modern competitive sport involving proficiency tests of accuracy, precision and speed. The art of using long range weapons developed from traditional bow archery, crossbow archery and then modern shooting sport using handgun and rifle.

The history of modern shooting sport began in America before wild west era. Target shooting was a favorite sport in colonial America, with the New England Puritans regularly testing their shooting skills for recreation and at militia training days. German gunsmiths in Pennsylvania began to manufacture Flintlock rifles in the 1720s, which became especially popular among hunters because of its long-range accuracy.
